DIRECTOR: TIM HOPKINS
DESIGN MENTOR: NICOLAI HART-HANSEN
DESIGNER: ANNA ROBINSON
LOCATION: HACKNEY EMPIRE
This production of Offenbach's Tales of Hoffmann transforms the Hackney Empire into a 1950s psychiatric ward. This immersive piece casts the audience as doctors, attending a lecture on the all new ECT method to 'cure' homosexual feelings. Hoffmann is unfortunately the showcase for the evening - a man whose delusion and denial has driven him to be always in search of but never be happy with the perfect woman.
