DIRECTOR: VANDA BUTKOVIC
DESIGNER: ANNA ROBINSON
LOCATION: NORTHERN STAGE, EPIC STAGE
Written by George Bernard Shaw in 1899, this play depicts the relationship between the very young and naïve Cleopatra and the wise, old Caesar. This production is set in Las Vegas and takes place between Caesar’s Palace and the Sphinx Club. The neon lights of mafiosa clubland are the setting for the political and sexual power play of the rival ‘gangs’.
Once Vanda and I had decide on the space and theme we experimented with neon lights taking different forms in the Epic Stage, Northern Stage. This is an example of one of the initial images I made.
